Magic

The night was rolling in and the warm glow of urban fires became brighter as Sam arrived back into port after a hard days work. She slung her catch over her shoulder and hopped off her small rowing boat and padded down the damp, mossy, wooden path towards Travista with a small candle-lit lantern in her other hand. A small gust of wind blew out the small flicker of light. Sam let out a sharp sigh in frustration, placing the burlap sack of fish on the ground and frantically trying to attempt to re-light the candle. As her eyes became more acustomed to the darkness she noticed the water beside her looked like it was... glowing? She had heard of types of algae and creatures with some kinds of bioluminesense and she had infact seen this occurance before, but tonight... tonight the water seemed to be glowing brighter then she had even seen before. Sam moved her bag of fish into a cluster of bushes for it to be out of sight, the whole time keeping her eyes firmly locked on the water. She was confused, yet also curious and aweinspired by this beautiful sight. As she slowly tiptoed down onto some rocks on the waters edge and crouched down to get a better look. "Amazing" She whispered as she ran her hand though the water creating luminous ripples across the water. Sam tentatively put her foot into the water. However her paw simply pressed down onto the water's surface as if it where a solid object; of course she knew she had the ability to walk on water but it had completely escaped her mind up until this moment. She placed the other foot onto the water and raised to her feet to take her first few wobbly steps out into the lake with her arms spread out either side of her and her tail flicking side to side for balance. After a few more strides she was beginning to get used to the sensation of her new ability as she stared at her feet with each step she took. Sam looked up, only expecting to have strayed a few metres into the water, but infact she was nearly in the middle of the lake. A quiet yelp escaped her maw when she realised what had happened, "Uuuuuhhhh..." was about the only sound she could make at this point. Her attention turned again to the water below her. She bent down to touch the water again, it was a shame no one else was there to share this breath-taking experience. She stayed on the water for another ten minutes or so before remembering the fish she'd left unattended back on the shore and slowly but carefully jogged back towards Travista every now and again glancing back at the water. Sam jumped back onto the path and dug out her catch from the hedge and throwing the bag over her shoulder again, stopping momentarily to look back to the lake once more before she headed into town

I've been working on this on and off over the past week or so. I really like how this came out, especially the water omg!
I wanted to give the scene a bit of context as well, hence the little story to go with it :>
